Which commodities are covered?

Cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and wood, plus listed derivatives — those named in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 by CN and HS code.

Do the deadlines apply to me?

If you place covered commodities on the EU market or export them, yes: 30 Dec 2026 for large & medium operators, 30 Jun 2027 for micro & small operators, per Regulation (EU) 2025/2650.

Are derivative products covered?

Accepted Answer

Only those listed in Annex I by HS code — for example chocolate and palm-oil derivatives for food, furniture for wood, tyres for rubber. Check your product’s code against the Annex I list; each commodity page carries examples.

We're a trader, not an importer — same duties?

Accepted Answer

Operators place covered products on the EU market and carry the full due-diligence duty. Traders distribute them; non-SME traders are treated like operators for due-diligence purposes, while SME traders have lighter record-keeping duties (Art. 5).

Point or polygon?

Points are accepted for plots of 4 ha or less; polygons are mandatory above that (Art. 9). For audits, polygons are always safer — they define exactly what was screened.

What coordinate format?

WGS84 (EPSG:4326), with 6 decimal places recommended. We validate format, geometry and area on upload — before a screening is spent.

My supplier won’t share polygons.

Practical options: send collection templates (shareable plot-collection links), aggregate via cooperatives, or reconsider the supplier — the geolocation duty stays with you.

One shipment, many plots?

Yes. A due-diligence statement references all plots relevant to the shipment; EUDR Clear batches multi-plot screenings into one evidence pack.

Is a screening result proof of compliance?

Accepted Answer

No. Screenings are indicative decision-support — “complementary information” under Art. 10(2). The due-diligence obligation and the judgment stay with you, the operator.

FAO Open Foris Whisp convergence indicators, Hansen GFC tree-cover loss, GLAD/RADD alerts, and Copernicus Sentinel-2 context — each figure carries its dataset and vintage.

What does “no signal detected” mean?

That no deforestation signal was found in the screened datasets as of their vintages. It is not a statement of absence — and it is never a determination.

Without a configured Whisp API key, results are deterministic demo outputs, clearly watermarked DEMO, so you can evaluate the workflow before connecting a live engine.

What’s in an evidence pack?

No. EUDR Clear is decision-support, not a certification body and not a certification scheme. We don’t certify plots, products, or operators — we screen plots and organize evidence, and no screening result is a compliance determination. Due-diligence obligations remain with the operator (EUDR Art. 10).

Are you affiliated with the EU or FAO?

No. EUDR Clear is an independent commercial product — not affiliated with, sponsored, or endorsed by the European Commission, the FAO, or any EU body.

Who is liable for my DDS?

What about GDPR?

We act as processor for your plot data under a controller/processor split; rights, retention and transfers are summarized in the Privacy Policy.

Does this cover the UK's deforestation rules?

The UK's own regime (Environment Act 2021, Schedule 17) had not commenced as of our last review and applies a legality-based test rather than the EUDR's deforestation cut-off. UK traders placing goods on the EU market need the EUDR regardless; our screening supports EUDR due diligence, not UK Schedule 17 compliance. [Verify commencement status with counsel before relying on this.]

What about Switzerland?

Swiss importers may owe due diligence under the Swiss deforestation regulation (revFAD), which tests legality in the country of production — a different test from the EUDR. Our screening supports evidence gathering but does not discharge revFAD obligations. [Confirm scope with counsel.]
